    Hi,

I just ordered new hardware for a HTPC. I’m planning on using GeeXboX as the OS but I want a bit more functionality than a standard install offers.
For example, I want to be able to browse the web on my HTPC. But GeeXboX doesn’t include a browser in the default install.
I’ve been using Linux (Ubuntu) for quite some years now so I could compile a browser from scratch.
But that’s a lot of work so I’m wondering what the quality of the OPKG repositories for GeeXboX is. Are packages for applications like browsers, shells etc. available in these repositories? And are they up to date?

If not, does anyone has suggestions how to accomplish this? GeeXboX seems like a good distro for HTPC’s but if the package management doesn’t have the same quality as a distro like Ubuntu I rather choose the latter..

    Thanks in advance :)
